As of November 13, 2023, a innovative system based on FORBS (Fiber Optic Rock Bolts System) fiber optic surveying anchors, developed and patented by Arkadiusz Grzywa, PhD, was put into operation at one of the currently exploited headings of the KGHM Group mining facilities.
FORBS is designed for monitoring rock masses, consisting of a grid of FBG (Fiber Bragg Gratings) sensors installed on fi22x2500[mm] steel anchors, and allows uninterrupted tracking of the behavior of rock masses 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
The real-time visualization of measurement data from each anchor on a computer screen, allows those responsible for the safe operation of the pit to be able to respond immediately and well in advance to any potential risks.
We believe that this will be only the beginning of our cooperation with the KGHM Group, one of the world’s leading copper and silver producers.
